A biosafety level 3 (BL3) laboratory is a high biosafety area where researchers can handle level 3 pathogenic organisms under the safest possible conditions.
BL3 was built as a “box within a box”, an independent structure built inside an existing building. This 120 m² facility, accessible via a double airlock, features 3 isolation rooms, an animal house and a common preparation and service area. It can accommodate 10 researchers simultaneously.
